Villainous is a unique board game developed by Ravensburger where players take on the role of a Disney Villain and strive to achieve their own devious objective. I first started playing this surprisingly complicated game in high school and it has been, by far, my favorite game of all time. Due to its complicated nature, however, I often found my friends and I rifling through endless pieces of paper that accompanied the game. A specific guide for the villain you are playing, a sheet of paper with a brief description of the other characters’ objectives, a sheet with what each action means, and of course, the instructions. It’s nearly impossible to learn to play correctly for the first time. My vision for this project was to create a companion app for the game, where you can easily find the information you need for when you’re playing. This app also allows players to more easily play with Villains from expansion packs, as players no longer need to take out all of the specific paperwork and have to track it back down after the game. In the Villainous Companion App, players can start a “New Game” where they select their and their opponents’ Villains, and have access to all of the necessary information at the touch of their fingers, without searching through an endless sea of papers.
